Dakota Selects Fastpitch Tryout Process
Thank you for your interest in Dakota Selects Fastpitch. We are committed to providing a fair, transparent, and data-driven evaluation process to ensure players are placed in an environment where they can grow, compete, and have fun. Below is an overview of how tryouts will be conducted:
Evaluation Format:
Our tryout process is designed to assess athletes across key areas of the game. Players will be evaluated in the following skill categories:
· Hitting
· Throwing
· Speed
· Defense (Infield & Outfield)
To ensure a fair and unbiased process, evaluations will be conducted by both independent evaluators and Dakota Selects program staff. These individuals are responsible for objectively assessing player performance and potential.
Coaches will be present to organize and run tryout stations, but they will not be involved in the evaluation process.
Technology & Tools:
To enhance the accuracy and objectivity of our evaluations, we incorporate the latest technology in our tryout process:
· Skill Shark – Our primary player evaluation app, allowing us to track, score, and compare performance metrics.
· Rapsodo – Provides advanced hitting and pitching data (exit velocity, launch angle, spin rate, etc.) to give a complete picture of player performance.
· Stalker Sports Radar – Measures throwing velocity and arm strength with high precision.
Team Placement:
Following tryouts, players will be placed on teams based on:
· Overall Skill Level – Using data from evaluators and technology tools.
· Team Composition Needs – Including positional balance and team chemistry.
Our goal is to create competitive teams where each player has the opportunity to succeed and develop within the program!
Next Steps:
· Players and families will be notified shortly after tryouts with placement information.
· For those not selected, we may maintain an alternate list and notify families if roster changes occur.
