Infield Lab: Arm & Skills Series
is an invite-only offseason training program designed to prepare players for the upcoming spring and summer season. In partnership with
Sanford
, this program combines focused
infield skill work
with
arm strengthening and maintenance
to help athletes elevate their overall defensive performance.
Players will be grouped by
age and competitive level
to ensure training is appropriately challenging and efficient. Each session blends
technical skill development
with physical preparation, building a foundation for both confidence and consistency on the field.
Training Focus Areas:
Infield Mechanics: footwork, glove work, and throwing technique
Arm Strength & Durability: structured throwing and maintenance routines
Game IQ: decision-making, positioning, and situational reads
At-Home Workouts: drills and routines to reinforce in-session progress

Infield skill development integrated with arm strengthening

: Each player will receive a camp shirt.
January Session Schedule (2 day's/week):
Group 1 – High School Baseball
Mondays: 7:00 – 8:30 PM (1/12, 1/19, 1/26)
Wednesdays: 7:00 – 8:30 PM (1/14, 1/21, 1/28)
Group 2 – Fastpitch
Mondays: 6:00 – 7:00 PM (1/12, 1/19, 1/26)
Wednesdays: 6:00 – 7:00 PM (1/14, 1/21, 1/28)
Group 3 – Middle School Baseball
Tuesdays: 6:00 – 7:30 PM (1/13, 1/20, 1/27)
Thursdays: 6:00 – 7:30 PM (1/15, 1/22, 1/29)
Infield Clinicians:
Alex Sumner
: Alex earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Dakota Wesleyan University where he played baseball. After his college career Alex went on and played 3 years of independent minor league baseball. Highlighting his minor league career, Alex earned honors as an All-Star shortstop where he led the league in stolen bases and earned the Gold Glove Award in the New York State League. Alex has coached baseball at the high school, college, and professional level including serving as an associate pro scout.
Andy Young
: Andy attended West Fargo High School where he earned the honor of North Dakota Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. Andy graduated from Indiana State. Andy was selected by the St Louis Cardinals in the 2016 MLB Draft. Andy was later traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks and made his MLB debut in 2020. Andy remains one of the few Major League Baseball players hailing from North Dakota.
Christian Ibarra:
Christian graduated from LSU where he was the starting 3rd baseman and earned first team All - SEC honors and earned All-Defensive Team. Christian was drafted in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Christian just finished his 10th professional season currently playing for Campeche in the Mexican League.
Kobe Senn:
Kobe attended Fargo Davies High School where he was named Defensive MVP. Kobe also earned honors as the 2021 American Legion Slugger Award and 2021 Central Plains Regional Tournament MVP and helped his team earn a berth to the 2021 American Legion World Series Kobe graduated from University of Minnesota-Crookston. Kobe had a .971 career fielding percent
Sanford Clinicians:
Randy Martin:
Randy Martin, Manager of Sanford Sports Performance, holds a bachelor’s in fitness and sports science from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master’s in human performance from UW–La Crosse. He specializes in athlete development, injury prevention, and return-to-play programming. Martin designs individualized, sport-specific training plans that balance speed, agility, strength, and mobility. A Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), his philosophy centers on long-term growth and building trust with every athlete. Randy's certifications include:

American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM): Certified Exercise Physiologist
USA Weightlifting: Certified Level I Weightlifting Coach

Jakob Petry:
Jakob Petry earned his bachelor’s degree in biomechanics from the University of Mary and is pursuing a master’s in kinesiology. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), he focuses on helping athletes reach their full potential through disciplined, purposeful training. Petry’s coaching style emphasizes confidence, resilience, and continuous improvement both in and out of sport.
Wyatt Schafer:
Wyatt Schafer, Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach at Sanford Sports, earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He has coached athletes in North Dakota and Arizona, with experience in both team and individual training. Schafer focuses on maximizing performance, reducing injury risk, and helping athletes grow through learning and accountability. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and ACSM Youth Fitness Specialist.
Mark Steichen:
Mark Steichen earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from North Dakota State University and interned with the University of Colorado football program. His training philosophy centers on strength, mobility, and injury prevention through proper technique and individualized programming. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, Steichen promotes a disciplined, supportive environment where athletes can thrive.
